Dow edges closer to record
30-share average moves near all-time high but investors show caution after weak durable goods report; oil seesaws.

NEW YORK The Dow Jones industrial average testing its all-time closing high.


The 30-share Dow (up 22.09 to 11,691.48, Charts) added about 0.2 percent with around 2 hours left in the session. Earlier, the blue-chip barometer stood within three points of its record closing high of 11,722.98, hit on Jan. 14, 2000. The record trading high is 11,750.28.
